"From our employee engagement surveys conducted worldwide we know that we are operating in the top quartile of our industry. The fact that METRO has now been recognized for the 13th consecutive time and this year received as many as nine certificates from the Top Employers Institute is a great acknowledgement for all those who work hard every day to create a continuously improved work experience in our organisation", said Heiko Hutmacher, Chief Human Resources Officer of METRO AG.

In the latest survey conducted by the institute, the national organisations of METRO Cash & Carry in Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal and Croatia once again received the distinction 'Top Employer 2018' for excellent working conditions and those in Turkey, Bulgaria, Pakistan and Poland were granted this certificate for the first time. METRO was in addition also named 'Top Employer Europe' for the fifth consecutive time. "We are pleased about the visibility of our successes. We have created excellent working conditions for our employees both at the national and also at the international level. This recognition by the Top Employer Institute is an additional incentive for us to continue on the road taken and to continually improve ourselves", said Selin Simsek, Head of Employer Branding. Around the world, the Amsterdam-based Top Employers Institute certifies the conditions that employers create for their people. In an annually conducted certification process, the Top Employers Institute assesses the employee offers of the participating companies according to certain criteria such as talent strategy, performance management or corporate culture.

METRO is one of the 10 most popular employers in the retail sector

Trendence Award für METROIn the ranking of the top employers in the retail sector, METRO ranks 8th among the most popular employers of young professionals in Germany. This is the result of the trendence Young Professional Barometer 2017, a representative study of 18,000 young professionals in Germany conducted annually by the independent consulting and market research company trendence. For the Young Professional Barometer 2017, trendence in Germany interviewed 18,000 young professionals with academic degrees and up to ten years of professional experience with their career plans and desired employers. The results provide information on the prominence and attractiveness of employers, the success of their communication campaigns and their employer image as well as the wishes and preferences of the young professionals.
