We take the well-being of our staff extremely seriously. Our 'GO' health campaign has been developing health initiatives and providing nutritional advice to employees since 2004. At our headquarters in Düsseldorf, for instance, employees can choose from a broad range of sports and health options – from the gym to massages and all-day health events.


There are three ‘METRO Sternchen’ children’s day nurseries at our headquarters in Düsseldorf. Over 240 children can be looked after here – all day if required. The children are supervised by qualified nursery school staff, who speak both German and English to them.

Carers for your family

METRO is aware of how important it can be to look after older family members. We help our employees find the right care for their family members by providing information and contact details of care facilities.

Flexible working models

METRO offers modern working models. These include trust-based working time, part-time models and arrangements for working from home. This gives our employees the freedom to manage their own time.

Holiday scheme

For children between six and sixteen years, we organize an interesting holiday program together with an external partner at the head office in Düsseldorf during the school holidays. The goal of the holiday is to do sports together as well as to promote the free play of children and young people.


Our 'Zukunftspaket' (future package) helps employees across the group build up a supplementary private pension – with benefits that exceed the usual standards in the industry.
